Beijing

We invite you to travel to China - a land encompassing many facets and allowing for a wide range of experiences.

China still remains one of the world's most enticing and enigmatic countries, offering even the seasoned traveler a refreshing array of sights and sounds. It is at once vast and friendly, and while surprising sophistication can be found in the cities, you do not need to look far for customs that have existed for centuries.

Stay in Beijing, the pulsing heart of today's China, capital city for over seven centuries and well over 3,000 years old. China's conundrum is that while parts of the country are rushing into the 21st century, never far away are areas that have remained unchanged for centuries. In Beijing the ring roads, traffic, shopping malls and neon signs may surprise you, but for the majority the bicycle is still the cheapest and most efficient mode of transport. The imposing grandeur of the Forbidden City and mystical symmetry of the Temple of Heaven remain untouched by modernity, and in the street markets you are just as likely to find goldfish or caged songbirds as CDs or copies of designer sportswear.

The imprint of Emperors is indelibly stamped on each corner of Beijing despite the onrush of modernity. Be overwhelmed with the complexity of the former Imperial Palace, with its warren-like living quarters and imposing ceremonial halls. During your stay you will have ample time to experience the traditions and friendliness of the people and immerse yourself into their history and art. Take a stroll around the impressive Tiananmen Square, the largest in the world, or be spellbound by the magnificent Great Wall which winds dragon-like along the ridgelines to the north of the city. Optional excursions to Xi'an's marvelous antiques and the famous terra cotta army, the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace will be available during your six-night stay. We assure you of a rare experience: thought provoking, stimulating, and immensely satisfying.
